STRATEGIC STUDY OF FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT IN TUNISIA


L’objectif de l’étude est d’établir une stratégie nationale qui impose une nouvelle approche en matière de prévention et gestion des risques des inondations sur l’ensemble du Tunisian territory by 2050. It aims to ensure the coherence of the actions carried out on the territory. This strategy must set the following objectives:
- Diagnosis of the current state of the flood management sector in Tunisia under its different aspects: regulatory, institutional and procedural
Overview of the history of flood disasters in Tunisia and evolution of vulnerability to flood risks, etc ...
- To give precise and coherent orientations to identify the priorities of action and to distribute the means on all the Tunisian territory, and to propose operational action plans in the medium and long term.
- Increase the safety of the population against flooding,
- Stabilize in the short term, and reduce in the medium and long term, the cost of flood-related damages
- Significantly shorten the time it takes for disaster-stricken areas to return to normal
• Avoir des indicateurs d’impacts sur la santé humaine, l’habitat, l’activité économique et l’environment to assess the potential negative consequences of flooding,
- Build capacity through flood response plans to reduce damage costs.
- Have a digitized and active database of flood zones.
- Align with the Sendai Framework for Action.


1" Phase: Diagnosis of the current situation and orientations
2nd Phase: Development of a Geographic Information System and Mapping of flood risk areas
3rd Phase: Proposal of a national flood management strategy
4th Phase: Proposal of an action plan
5th Phase: Detailed study of pilot priority areas
