September 2022: ESIA, ESMP and RAP of New Freetown Sanitary Landfill
CONCEPT a remporté le contrat « Services de consultant pour la réalisation de l’étude d’impacts environnementale et sociale (EIES) et la préparation du plan de gestion environnementale et sociale (PGES) pour la construction d’une nouvelle décharge sanitaire dans la zone ouest » en Sierra Leone as part of the Resilient Urban Sierra Leone Project (RUSLP). The purpose of the ESIA to be prepared by CONCEPT is to help make the project reliable and sustainable from an environmental and social points of view and to ensure conformity with Legislation of Sierra Leone and World Bank Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and guidelines.
The new landfill that will serve more than 1.5 million people will be bioreactor type with a lifespan of 25 years. It will also have leachate collection, storage and treatment facility as well as biogas capture and use including electricity generation.

The Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) to be prepared by CONCEPT will address any cases of involuntary resettlement that may arise and will clarify the organizational arrangements that may be needed during different phases of the project preparation and implementation phases.
This includes compensating all Project Affected Persons (PAPs) for the loss of lands, properties, and livelihoods resulting from resettlement (physical and economic relocation).
