Hydraulic development - water management and treatment

The Wadi El Kebir in the region of Gafsa, on which the dam bearing the same name is planned, is a tributary of the Wadi Bayech and its watershed is half on Algerian territory. The site of the dam is located 15 km upstream from the city of Gafsawhich is considered the most advantageous because of the presence of a limestone spur on the left bank.

The main objectives of the Kebir dam in Gafsa are:
The recharge of the water table of Gafsa North ;
- The control of irrigation by spreading the flood waters of the plains located downstream;
- Laminating and cushioning flood waters in order to protect the city of Gafsa against floods.

The purpose of the contract is to elaborate the execution study of the dam on Oued Kebir, as well as to assist the General Directorate of Dams and Major Hydraulic Works in its missions of supervision of the execution of the works, the installation of the equipment and the coordination of all the actions to be carried out for the implementation of the project, on the technical, administrative and financial levels.
